1 Structure: casing spears type AZ is made up of mandrel, grapple segment, grapple body, grapple bowl, segment screw and top sub. (Figure)
2 Principle: grapple¡¯s OD is somewhat bigger than the fish¡¯s ID in the free condition. When the tools enter into the fish, the slip is compressed, and the outside expansion force makes the slip cling to the fish¡¯s wall. With the mandrel going up and the pulling power increasing, so the slip engenders a radial force to catch the fish.
